The ingredients in polymeric sand differ from one manufacturer to the next, but most generally contain crystalline silica or quartz. In fact, up to 80 percent or more of many polymeric sands contain these or another polymer component.
Ordinary sand was used to fill in the joints between pavers for centuries. Unfortunately, plain old sand washes out and needs constant upkeep and replacing.
